Rats stressed by physical restraint and by deprivation of food and water to produce gastric ulcers were given chlorpromazine or nicotinic acid. Doses of nicotinic acid 16.6, 33.2 and 62.5 mg/kg reduced stress, whereas the two smaller doses of chlorpromazine were ineffective in preventing stress-induced ulcer.
