The effects of D-glucitol hexanicotinate (sorbinicate) were investigated in 2 groups of obese patients, the 1st of grades 1 and 2 and the 2nd of grade 3. The changes induced by the preparation in the serum lipid parameters and circulating NEFA , triglycerides, total NEFA and fractions, phospholipids, cholesterol, total lipids, uric acid and prothrombin activity. Sorbinicate possessed a marked antilipolytic and antilipemic action without causing any deterioration in carbohydrate tolerance or increase in the blood uric acid level.
