Capillaria hepatica was found in lesions of the liver in 7 of 9 suspect cases in Czechoslovakia, the first report of this parasite in man in Europe. The cases are described in detail. All the granulomata were alike, consisting of concentrations of calcified necrotic tissue bounded by hyaline connective tissue, containing liver tissue and foci of necrotic exudate. Each granuloma was produced by a single larva; development was not completed so eggs typical of C. hepatica were not found. Previously, only cases of massive infections in man have been described.
