Electroimmunodiffusion (EID) and crossed electroimmunodiffusion (CEID) were evaluated and compared with immunodiffusion (ID) with respect to their resolution capabilities and their abilities to detect antigenic relations, both qualitative and quantitative, among yeast phase growth filtrates of 8 strs. of H. capsulatum. EID was judged superior to ID and CEID in all respects. A comparison was also made between burro and rabbit antisera and the former was found to resolve a larger number of antigens. By EID considerable antigenic variation among strs. was detected and correlation were noted between the antigenic properties and length of time in culture and geographical origin of the strs.
