Rats given intraperitoneal injections of hycanthone methanesulphonate at 40, 80 or 100 mg/kg body-weight and killed 6, 24, or 48 hours later showed a significant increase in bone marrow cells with abnormal chromosomes. There was a significant linear relationship between dose and the proportion of cells affected.
