Sodium cyclamate is not hydrolyzed in alkaline solutions but, degrades under rigorous conditions such as in citric acid at 110°C, in hydrochloric at 125°C or in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. The hydrolysis in aqueous solutions is very slow which is proportional to hydrogen ion concentration and the apparent pH of the stable formulations is about 6.5.
