The existence of at least 2 LD [lymphocyte-defined] loci in the mouse, one at each end of the H-2 complex, was confirmed. LD-1 appears to be located between Ss-Slp and H-2D; the position of LD-2 is uncertain, but there is some evidence that it may be located between H-2K and Ss-Slp. The possibility exists that there may be many LD loci in the LD-1 region or in the LD-2 region. LD-2 has not yet been separated from Ir-1.
