Mild non-specific resistance to Brucella abortus was observed in g. pigs infected i/m with BCG vaccine, or Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.t.) organisms s/c, but not in those given cholera vaccine s/c. The hyperimmune sera against Vibrio cholera (V.c.) and Bordetella pertussis (B.p.) acetone dried cells did not produce a precipitin line with Brucella sonic extracts; the same was true of sodium chloride extracts of V.c., M.t., and B.p. with Brucella sera. Serum against V.c. acetone-dried cells showed an agglutination titre of 320 I.U with B. abortus 599 plain agglutination antigen. B. abortus and B. suis hyperimmune sera after absorption with V.c. acetone dried cells showed a reduction in agglutination titre without affecting the number of precipitin lines while with M.t. and B.p. cells no such change was observed. Absorption of B. melitensis hyperimmune serum with the cells of these three organisms reduced the agglutination titre and also removed three precipitin components.
