The eimerian infections, as listed by Pellerdy (1965), from Porphyrio sp., Fulica americana and F. atra atra are due to Eimeria polycephali Yakimoff and Matschoulsky, 1939 and E. paludosa (Leger and Hesse, 1922) Hoare, 1933 - the other hosts included being Polycephalus coeruleus and Gallinula chloropus respectively. For the former only the exogenous stages have been described, while for the latter, information on the endogenous development is also available.
