A 20-year-old woman underwent alcohol sclerotherapy for a symptomatic liver cyst, initially diagnosed as simple liver cyst [India; date not given]. Five months later, ultrasonography showed a residual cyst measuring 3.8 cm in diameter. A week later, the patient presented with spontaneous discharge of a whitish membrane from the chest wall sinus, which resembled the laminated membrane of a hydatid cyst. No visible scolices or daughter cysts were seen. The sinus healed in 10 days. A year later after sclerotherapy, the patient was asymptomatic, the sinus had healed, and ultrasonography revealed no residual cyst.
