Molluscicidal activity of Lawsonia inermis and its binary and tertiary combinations with other plant derived molluscicides

The molluscicidal properties of extracts of leaves, bark and seeds of Lawsonia inermis were investigated against Lymnaea acuminata and Indoplanorbis exustus. The seed extract was the most toxic. The toxicity of combinations of Lawsonia inermis seed powder +or- Embelia ribes fruit powder with Cedrus deodara, Azadirachta indica, Allium sativum, Polianthes tuberosa or Zingiber officinale against the snails was investigated. Combinations of Lawsonia inermis with C. deodora or Azadirachta indica were the most toxic, and were more toxic than their individual components.
