The state of the regulatory mechanisms and degree of the body adaptation to working conditions and work pattern (the norm, strain, overstrain, exhaustion) were studied in various vocational micropopulations of workers (miners, machine operators) and in patients suffering from vibration sickness. Integrated index of the regulatory system activity was calculated using mathematicostatistic, autocorrelation and spectral characteristics of cardiac rhythm, allowing a quantitative evaluation of adaptation degree. In subjects whose work is considered as physically not hard and involving nervous stress, overstrain and exhaustion were observed in 37- 45 % cases; in subjects engaged in hard physical work involving nervous stress these, states occurred in 50-55 % of the observations. Patients with vibration sickness suffered from these states in 72.8 % cases.
