Fibrinolytic activity in bilharzial hepatic fibrosis

In a study of 10 normal individuals and 55 male patients with schistosomal hepatic fibrosis, there were increases in the plasma fibrinolytic activity and plasma activator in all patients parallel to the severity of the disease. This could be caused by an increase in activators from the diseased liver and spleen, by a reduction in anti-activators, or even by a "lysokinase factor" produced by the parasites.
