It is generally held that the Na+, K±ATPase of cell membranes works as a pump to transport Na+ and K+ in a vectorial or directional manner. In the kidney, the transport of Na+, K+ is an especially important function. Our experiment showed that AG strongly inhibited Na+, K±ATPase activity. Therefore the phenomenon that the Na+ and Cl- excretion in urine was reduced in healthy adults after AG administration may be related with this effect.
