The paper reports on the clinical testing of a combined preparation consisting of ampicillin, theophylline, papaverineHCI and guayacolglycerin ether in tablet form (BronchoBinotal®) in an espen trial conducted by 68 practising physicians. Explanation of the release mechanism. lt was found in a pharmacokinetic cross-over test that, basing on measurements of the serum level changes and excretion in urine, ampicillin is equally well utilized by absorption from Broncho-Binotal and Binotal 500. 1223 patients with bronchitis (551 acute and 672 chronic cases) were included in the study. The findings were recorded an a question card suitable for documentation and then evaluated by data processing. The effect of the treatment is clearly demonstrated by means of the selected assessment criteria of subjective well-being, cough, amount of sputum, condition of sputum, dyspnoea, dyspnoea pattern, blond sedimentation rate, leucocyte count in the blond, and auscultation findings. The treatment was well tolerated.
