A series of six 2,6-diamino-8,9-disubstituted purines form cyclic 2:1 hydrogen bonded complexes with phenobarbitone in dilute chloroform solution at room temperature, whereas 9-phenbutyladenine forms a 1: 1 complex under similar conditions.
