There was some evidence in this study that Betnovate was slightly more rapid in action than Alphosyl HC and marginally more effective overall. However, of 27 patients completing the four week study, only 3 had a better response to Betnovate for effect on scaling while 8 had a better response to Alphosyl HC for scaling. Both products were well tolerated and showed a statistically significant success rate. Only 1 patient failed to respond to Alphosyl HC but responded to Betnovate. Seven patients (21.6%) only, did not respond to either. In view of long term preference for Alphosyl HC which contains only 0.5% hydrocortisone, it is concluded that it is a very worthwhile treatment for psoriasis.
