A double-blind comparison of fluocinonide and betamethasone valerate ointments

A two-week double-blind trial of two concentrations of fluocinonide ointment (0.01% and 0.05%) against 0.1% ßmethasone valerate ointment was carried out on 58 patients with psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, excematous dermatitis, and lichen planus. The lower concentration of fluocinonide and 0.1% ßmethasone valerate were found to be equally effective in all conditions, while 0.05% fluocinonide was noticeably more effective than 0.1% ßmethasone valerate.
