The combination of propranolol, hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone in the treatment of essential arterial hypertension

The authors have conducted a research on the anti-hypertensive effect of an association of propranolol + hydrochlorothiazide + spironolactone in a group of patients with arterial hypertension of various origin, using low closes of the individual drugs and varying their reciprocal ratio. The protocol applied to a group of 46 patients resulted effective in 95.65% of the subjects treated, with little frequency (8.69%) and few side effects. The authors therefore retain that the type of association proposed is valid, especially in the cases where monotherapy does not give satisfactory results, even if this type of protocol necessarily brings about a greater selection of patients.
