Dietary factors and risk of prostate cancer in Poland. Results of case-control study

The relationship between cigarette smoking, vodka drinking and consumption of 44 food items typical of the Polish diet were analysed in a case-control study performed in Cracow, Poland, among 76 cases of prostate cancer (mean age 69.3 years; registered between 1987 and 1990 at the Cracow cancer registry) and 152 controls (mean age 69.5 years). Cigarette smoking and drinking of vodka did not significantly influence prostate cancer. Men who ate smoked or fried fish or liver at least once per week had almost half of the risk of prostate cancer of men who ate those foods rarely.
