Plummer-Vinson syndrome is a rare condition of progressive dysphagia that primarily affects women in the 30 to 50 year old age range, usually in association with other more or less uniform symptoms, the most frequent being hypochromic sideropenic anemia. The Authors have described here two particularly representative cases showing the radiologic signs that led to diagnosis, the methodological and diagnostic difficulties encountered, differential diagnostic problems and the diagnostic/therapeutic role of endoscopy.
