Hydrogen ion concentration in the sperm of men from sterile families

762 ejaculates from men with sterile marriages were subjected to pH tests to determine the concentration of hydrogen ions in the sperm. This index is considered to be very important in determining the fertility capability of the family. A pH meter of type PHM 71 with an accuracy of up to .001 was used. The sperm values and the mean value of the concentration of the hydrogen ions are presented. The average value for the sterile men was a pH of 7.398. The inferences made from the concentration of hydrogen ions for general diagnostics of the sperm are considered to be valuable, although this of course depends on the capability of consulting rooms.
