Effect of immunization with sheep erythrocytes on rat behavior

The behavior of rats was studied in an "open field" test in the time course of the development of antibodies to sheep erythrocytes, standard antigen as was their conditioned passive avoidance response. Activation of the searching component of behavior and decreased capability of elaborating the passive avoidance response were observed during the development of primary immune response at the initial period of the productive phase of antibody formation. The development of the secondary immune response was accompanied by a short-term increase in motor activity. The results of the study point to the effect of normal immune response on the physiology of rat behavior.
