Isolation of cathepsin D inhibitor from potato tubers

The cathepsin D inhibitor from potato tubers has been purified by means ol' adsorpion of lectins on erythrocytes, percipitation of inactive proteins at 65°C, fractionation with ammonia sulphate, gel filtration on Sephadex G-50 and ion-exchange chromatography on CM-cellulose. The inhibitor has been 25-fold purified. Its molecular weight was found to amount to 22.400 daltons.
