Fast adherent fraction of peritoneal cells of Balb/c mice was shown to release the inhibitor of physiological interferon synthesis. The inhibitor appeared active in relation to interferons produced by peritoneal cells noninduced or induced with NDV or LPS, and not active in relation to a synthesis of IFN induced by NDV in L cells. The inhibitor was shown to be a low-molecular substance, relatively stable at 56.degree. C and pH 2-10.
