Jiangxi scored outstanding achievements in planned parenthood in 1980. The natural population growth rate fell from 13.74/1000 in 1979 to below 10/1000. In Yichun Prefecture the growth rate fell to 7.51/1000. Over 70,000 couples with only 1 child took out single-child certificates.
