In spite of the fact that Islam urges its nation to marry and reproduce in marriage, the objects of Islam and Islamic law are man's interest and well being in this world and afterward. Thus, parents are granted freedom of choice as to family size. Family planning may be undertaken in the face of pressing socioeconomic need or other strong grounds provided it is done with proper respect for Moslem religious beliefs and with faith and trust in God's providence. Accounts of judgments and opinions of Islamic scholars are cited in support of the opinion.
