Examination of the effect of Anteovin tablet on the endometrium

Today hormone containing oral contraceptives are the most widely used in gynaecology. As a consequence endometrial changes caused by these drugs should be studied to prevent the extended use of eventually unfavourable drug combinations. In the consideration of the above described observations we studied also the endometrium influencing effect of a new oral hormone containing drug. Twenty-seven women taking a biphasic oral contraceptive called Anteovin for 1-15 months were involved in our study. The examined women were divided into two groups; one group was subjected to stripe-curretage on days 9-12 of the drug-induced cycle, the other group on days 21-23 of cycle. The samples were prepared according to the routine histological technique and therafter serial sections were cut. In the interesting cases the histological pattern was described in details and microphotos were taken. The histological pattern was compared to the structure of control endometrium of identical period of cycle not influenced by hormone containing drug as well as with the similar results of references. On the basis of these observations it could be concluded that the effect of Anteovin on the endometrium is more favourable than that of combined tablets; atrophic phenomena were less expressed.
