At the decreased level of female fertility, differences exist regarding the planned number of children and, particularly, the realized fertility. According to the 1980 census results and in comparable sets of women, higher average numbers of livebirth deliveries have been found among women who married at a young age and women married to men of the same age or slightly older than themselves. Economically active women have a lower fertility, i.e., those women who have a secondary and higher level of education. Women and/or wives of agricultural workers and cooperative farmers have the highest fertility as do women living in rural communes. Considerable differences exist in the fertility of women of different national origin. Among married women, particularly those married for the 1st time, the proportion of women who have not delivered a live birth continues to decline to around 3% and even to under 2% for those who married at a young age. In all cases, smaller differences have been found in the Czech Socialist Republic in contrast to the higher female fertility found in the Slovak Socialist Republic. All given factors taken together influence the level of female fertility, and their isolated influence should not be overestimated.
