In contrast to the findings of Porter et al. [V.B., abst. 4716], the present authors were able to demonstrate fixation of complement between the serum of infected mink and an antigen derived from the tissues of infected mink. They concluded that plasma cell proliferation and the high gamma-globulin content in infected animals resulted from persistent immunological stimulation by viral antigens.
