The infection of turkey poults at one or two days of age with sinus exudate preparations obtained from turkeys with severe sinusitis, cultures of M. gallisepticum isolated from these exudales, or a culture of a laboratory adapted strain of this organism, consistently produced a condition which on clinical, pathological and biochemical examination was indistinguishable from that recognised as "turkey syndrome '65" in the field.
