The effect of Nicergoline (30 mg per day for síx weeks) on intelligence quotient (IQ) (modified Wais test for the elderly) was studied under double-blinded conditions.Thirty three institutionalized geriatric patients were divided into three experimental groups: Nicergolinetreated, placebo-treated and controls. Although a tendency to improve the IQ was seen in the Nicergoline and placebo treated groups, this improvement was not significant when compared with the controls.
