Calories, fat, fibers, and cellular proliferation in Swiss Webster mice

The effects of dietary modification on cellular proliferation was investigated. Groups of 10 female Swiss Webster mice (Charles River, St. Constant, Quebec) were used in the restriction and fat studies, while similar groups of males of the same colony were used in the fibre studies. The results obtained clearly indicated the utility of cellular proliferation studies in investigating the effects of dietary modifications. A brief overview of these studies is also presented.
