The clinical picture of acute viral hepatitis B and HLA antigens in women of reproductive age

Clinical course of acute viral hepatitis B (AVHB) was compared in 195 unpregnant, pregnant and lactating women, as was HLA-antigen distribution. AVHB took place according to the classical variant with pronounced cyclicity of infection in all groups of women. More clinically pronounced symptoms of intoxication, long-term hyperenzymemia and hepatomegaly were observed in the group of lactating women, as was a pronounced increase in the frequency of the occurrence of HAL antigen. The latter indicates that women who have this antigen in their phenotype are predisposed to the development of the severe form of AVHB during lactation.
