A double-blind randomized trial was carried out in 60 patients suffering from acute viral hepatitis B allocated to two groups. One group (30 patients) received polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine (EPL) plus vitamin B complex, per os, the other group a placebo. In the group treated with polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine (EPL) plus vitamin B complex earlier disappearance of HBsAG from serum was observed. Treatment was well tolerated.
