Further monogeneans from Iranian freshwater fishes

The results of a survey of Iranian freshwater fishes for monogeneans are presented. Dogelius persicus sp. nov. from the gills of Barbus grypus (type host), B. sharpeyi and Crassobarbus luteus, from the River Dez and Karun, differs from all known species of the genus by the form of the copulatory organ and by the lack of a special blade on the tip of the anchors. Dactylogyrus holciki sp. nov. from Chalcalburnus mossulensis (type host) and C. chalcoides, from the River Beshar, differs from all known Dactylogyrus species by the shape of its copulatory organ. The following species are reported for the first time from Iran: Dactylogyrus affinis from Barbus brachycephalus; D. chramulii, D. gracilis and D. lenkorani from Capoeta capoeta; D. carpathicus from Barbus plebeius; D. intermedius from Carassius auratus; D. linstowi from Barbus plebeius and B. capito; D. minor and D. vistulae from Chalcalburnus chalcoides; D. parvus from Alburnus charusini, D. suecicus from Rutilus frisii kutum; D. tuba from Aspius aspius; Tetraonchus monenteron from Esox lucius. Five species of Dactylogyrus previously reported from Iran are recorded from new hosts: D. alatus (Chalcalburnus chalcoides, Alburnus charusini); D. chalcalburni (C. chalcoides, A. charusini), D. haplogonus (Rutilus frisii kutum); D. pulcher (Capoeta capoeta, C. trutta), D. turaliensis, (R. frisii kutum).
