Twenty-five strains of mycobacteria were isolated from spleen, liver and skin samples from 12 Macropodus opercularis from eight countries. 20 were identified as follows: M. marinum (4), M. aquae (2), M. terrae (2), M. fortuitum (8), M. parafortuitum (1) and M. smegmatis (3).
