Clinical and immunological evaluation of patients with bronchial asthma treated with autovaccines

Forty patients with clinically confirmed diagnosis of the infectious bronchial asthma were classified to the treatment with autovaccines. Immunological examination was carried out in all patients before and after therapy. Concentration of IgG, IgA and IgM was assayed. T -cell subpopulations and lymphocytes B were determined with rosette E and EAC tests, according to commonly accepted technique. Moreover, a test of peripheral blood leucocytes migration inhibition with bacterial antigens was performed with Seborg and Bendixen method. Marked increase in IgG concentration and statistically significant increase in lymphocytes T percentage were found. The test of leucocytes migration inhibition was positive in 10 patients without clinical improvement both before and after therapy with autovaccine. Favourable effects of the treatment were seen in 5504 of the patients. Oral autovaccines administered to the asthmatic patients stimulate humoral and cellular immunity, decrease an incidence of the infections and are safe in the ambulatory use.
