The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of bronchial asthma in children aged 0-15 year old hospitalized in the years 1983-1994. The analysis of the material was carried out on the basis of 13,514 disease histories of children admitted to hospital in the eleven years' period. The essential criterion that decided about further clinical and statistical analysis was recognition of bronchial asthma as a primary disease. In the studied clinical material bronchial asthma was diagnosed in 333 patients i.e. 2.5%.
