Assessment of the efficacy and safety of class IC antiarrhythmic drug combinations

The effectiveness and safety of the combined administration of class IC antiarrhythmic drugs was assesed. Included in the study were 47 patients with frequent and stable extrasystole. The drugs ethmozine, etacizine, proleocofen, and allapinine were administerd in blind trials. Individual drugs were administered in combination in dosages which proved ineffective in single-drug therapy. Tolerance and effectiveness of the drug combinations were then assessed. As a result of the study it was found that combinations of class IC antiarrhythmic drugs (with the exception of allapinine combined with etacizine) are highly effective and well tolerated. Drugs taken in combination resulted in fewer side effects than the same drugs used in isolation in higher dosages.
