An adjuvant vaccine containing two strains of Vibrio fetus biotype 1 and one strain of V. fetus subtype 1 was used to vaccinate 99 yearling Hereford heifers. Heifers of similar age were left unvaccinated as controls. The heifers in both groups were exposed to infected bulls for approximately four months. Seventy-nine vaccinated and 62 of 99 unvaccinated heifers were found to be pregnant six months after the beginning of breeding.
