The association of Schistosoma japonicum infection and colonic carcinoma has been well established, but such an association has not been confirmed in cases of S. mansoni infection. The case is now reported of a 25-year-old female patient with chronic abdominal pain. Examination revealed a mass, which at colonoscopy and biopsy was clearly an adenocarcinoma. Within the tumour tissue there were signet ring cells with destroyed normal architecture and Schistosoma ova surrounded by fibrous reaction. Rectal scraping confirmed the presence of S. mansoni ova. The patient was born in Nigeria and had lived there for 10 years before moving to Lebanon, where she had been living ever since.
