The dynamics of the stenosing lesion of the infarction-related coronary artery after thrombolytic therapy and multimodality therapy was studied. The degree of how soon and to what extent the restensosis of the coronary artery restricts the functional recovery of the left ventricle was determined in one hundred and two myocardial infarction patients. It was found that a multimodality treatment of the patients which included i.v. thrombolytic therapy and delayed balloon dilatation of the coronary arteries resulted in a significant and long-term improvement of vascular permeability. It was accompanied by certain improvement of the total and local contractile function of the left ventricle, as well as by a decrease in reocclusion frequency.
