Analysis of policies, programmes and interventions that affect the nutritional status of the Chilean population

There has been a significant improvement in the nutritional state of children in Chile during recent years as a result of several governmental and non-governmental programmes which have been in existence for more than 10 years. The function of 7 of these programmes, such as the National Supplementary Feeding Programmes, the School Feeding Programme and the National Group of Nursery Schools, is described. Areas not covered by the present programmes and which need urgent attention include the present section of the community.
