Few females of Osborne's cyst nematode (Heterodera sp.) were recovered from N. glutinosa, N. paniculata and N. plumbaginifolia and none from N. longiflora when exposed to eggs and larvae. Although N. longiflora was the most resistant, its hybrids with N. tabacum 'SC58' were not viable. N. plumbaginifolia was easily crossed with N. tabacum 'SC58' and the hybrids were highly resistant.
