Whole-body UV irradiation of healthy volunteers enhanced the C. albicans killing activity of the circulating polymorphonuclear granulocytes in a dose-dependent manner. This enhancing effect was inhibited by oral indomethacine treatment. The sera from irradiated subjects enhanced the killing activity of the granulocytes of untreated individuals. This effect was blocked by the administration to the system of ginkgolide B, a competitive antagonist of the platelet activating factor.
