The study revealed that a comprehensive assessment of proliferation and hepatocyte polyploidy serves as an integral indicator of compensator liver regeneration and its resistance. The development of reparative regeneration is correlated with the accumulation of the significant amount of destructive cells and is regarded as an adequate reaction to the damaging effect of toxic agents. Thus it is possible to consider reparative regeneration as an indicator of hepatotoxic effect under hygienic regulation and to justify its examination under the effect of environmental hygienic factors.
