Isolation of a cytotoxic factor from the blood serum of athymic rats

An attempt was made to obtain cytotoxic factor from the blood serum of nude rats in a homogenous state in order to establish its nature. Presumably, protein found in the blood serum of nude rats is not identical to tumor necrosis factor described in the literature. Protein factor may be related to the so-called NKCF proteins, which are secreted by NK-cells in contact with target cells. It is necessary to study protein primary structure to establish the relationship between these proteins and nude rat serum cytotoxic factor.
