The correspondents comment on the paper by Londner et al. (Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (1988) 82, 686) about the use of a dot ELISA for the detection of Plasmodium falciparum antibodies in 50 patients from Egypt and asked if the cases were genuine Egyptian cases with P. falciparum malaria.
