The authors studied the effect of hypoxia and streptase on the electrolyte composition of plasma, red cells, and abdominal aorta, the ATPase activity, membrane charge, and viscosity of red cells in rats. Hypoxia disturbed hemostasis and changed the electrolyte balance in the red cell-plasma-abdominal aorta system. Streptase corrected essentially the hypoxia induced changes of these values.
